Morrisville- Thomas Edward Davis, 34, passed away Sunday at Rex Hospital. Tom was diagnosed with Melanoma in May of this year. Tom was born on October 18, 1976, in Livingston NJ. His mother, Luanne Davis, is originally from Parsippany, NJ, but has lived in Wilmington, NC for the past 32 years. He was an only child. On February 23, 2008, he was married to Heather Byrd Davis in Raleigh, NC. The couple has no children. Tom attended St. Mary Catholic School and Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington, NC. He studied for his undergraduate degree and attended the graduate program at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Tom graduated Magna Cum Laudefrom NC State University and was Valedictorian of the History Department. He was a member ofthe Golden Key Honor Society, Phi Sigma Phi,Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Judicial Doctorate from NC Central UniversitysSchool of Law in 2005.Tom was in private practice at the Law Office of Thomas E. Davis in Durham, NC. He lovedcollecting Lionel Trains, being a referee for the Triangle Football Association, playing video games, traveling, and all types of electronics. Tom was also an avid Star Wars fan. He was a big kid at heart! Tom is survived by his wife,Heather Byrd Davis; his mother, Luanne Davis; and his honorary aunt and uncle, Mary and Mario Fornini of NJ. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Anna Davis. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC 27513. Interment will follow in Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8:00pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Toms memory to: Melanoma Research-ACS, 8300 Health Park Ste. 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
