Thomas Phillip Ficklin, Jr., better known as “Phil,” joined “The Good Lord” on May 30, 2018. He was 65 years old and was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sue and Thomas Ficklin, and niece, Dawn Drinkard. Phil was a person who opened his heart and home to those who needed a helping hand, he never ran away from a challenging situation, and he was his happiest when he was in the presence of loved ones. Phil was a humble man who simply made the world a better place through his actions of love, laughter, strength, and resilience. Part of Phil’s legacy was that he was a man who believed that part of being a good man was being a great father, but merely saying he was either of the two would be an understatement that would not give him proper justice or even halfway define the true depth of his character. A man of true benevolence and sacrifice, Phil gave everything he could to help his children and others succeed in this world. A man of kindness and permanence, Phil would do everything in his power to demonstrate that, for his children and grandchildren, they would never be alone. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. Friends may visit with the family following the service. Phil is survived by his son, Brandon Ficklin, daughter Jessica Ficklin, and two grandchildren, Camden Ficklin and Colby Ficklin. In lieu of sending flowers, the family respectfully requests that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or to Tender Touch Family Care Home, P.O. Box 41442, Raleigh, NC 27629.
