Thressa Crowell Mccullough

Thressa Crowell McCullough, 80, of Raleigh, beloved wife, mother, and friend died Wednesday.  Tessie was a native of Stanley County, NC and the daughter of the late Earl B. and Sallie L. Crowell.  She attended Presbyterian Nursing School in Charlotte and was a Registered Nurse, working at Dorothea Dix Hospital for 30 years. Tessie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crafting, and cooking.  She loved watching NCSU and UNC basketball and, more than anything, spending time with her cherished grandson. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John E. McCullough, her parents, and her brother Kenneth Crowell. She is survived by her daughter Hope M. Benziger and her husband Tim and grandson Henry of Raleigh; her daughter Heather McCullough and her husband Martin Harris of Troutman, NC; her sister Tillie Hall and her husband Dave of Belmont, NC; and her brother Mike Crowell and his wife Pam of Salisbury, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2PM at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 831 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tessie’s name to the SPCA of Wake County or the American Cancer Society.
