Timothy Lee Kearney

Timothy Lee Kearney passed away Sunday July 16, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Timothy was born Sept 15, 1952 in Raleigh, where he lived most of his life. He is survived by his brother Alan W Kearney (Kay H. Kearney) of Myrtle Beach,SC. and sister in law Anna Marie Kearney (Marvin L. Kearney deceased). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Ava Kelley (Tom),Justin Kearney, Brandon Brightwell, Emily Boggie,Travis Kearney( Angeliqe), Shelley Albright, and Marty Clyburn; and also numerous great nieces and Nephews.

Timothy graduated high school at Wake Technical College after attending Enloe HS in Raleigh. Timothy had a great love for music and history. He played bass in several bands in his life including: The Cigarettes, Jimmy and the Jones, and The Love Company. Timothy won best poem at a NC State poetry contest and later published a book of poems.

Timothy's greatest love was Civil War reenacting as part of the NC REGIMENT. Timothy was a professional genealogist and family historian spending countless hours at the Archives of Raleigh. Timothy published a research book on Civil War soldiers. He was an active member of the NC Genealogical Society. He resided for many years in the SHEMUEL KEARNEY home place, circa 1752, near Franklinton. He restored the old place to a livable home enabling him to live a part of his ancestors history. Shemuel was the first extended family ancestor to settle in NC.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
