Tom John Bumgarner

Tom John Bumgarner reunited in the greener gardens of heaven with his wife Marie, son Bernie, 3 of his sisters, parents, and Bumgarner, Graybeal, and Patton kinfolk on Friday, April 23, 2021. He was born July 18, 1926 in Lansing, N.C and he spent his early years in Millers Creek. Tom was a pharmacist mate, U.S. Navy, 1944-46, graduated from N.C State College, and worked in the N.C. Employment Security Commission until retirement. A Master Gardner, he grew daylilies and camellias and volunteered at JC Raulston Arboretum. Tom leaves behind son John Lee Bumgarner and his spouse Alisa Huffman; grandchildren Cameron, Rebecca, Tristan, and Houston; sisters Joy and Sue Pattison; brothers Carroll and Charlie; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family thanks Dr. Steven Liebowitz and nurse, Lori Bruce, HomeChoice Home Care Solutions (especially Taneka and Hector), and Transitions LifeCare. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 3:00PM in the Veterans Section. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to JC Raulston Arboretum, Raleigh, NC.
