GODWIN – Tommy Avery, 71, passed away Monday at Sampson Regional Hospital in Clinton. He served his country honorably in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Tommy is survived by his mother, Eula Bass Avery; daughters, Gina Farmer of Angier and Angela Avery of Coats; sons, Anthony Avery (Pam) of Angier, Phil Avery of Coats; brothers, Ronnie Avery (Loretta) of Fuquay-Varina, Donald Lee Avery (Nadine) of Lillington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Avery was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Greene Avery, and brother, Jimmy Ray Avery. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 14 at 2:00 pm at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. He will lie in state on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
