Vance George Byars

RALEIGH - Vance George Byars went home to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late James Pliney Byars and Alma Mae Byars. Vance served his country in the US Navy during WWII and spent his entire working career with Winn Dixie, retiring with over 40 years. He was a Shriner and enjoyed golf, yard work and family. Funeral services will be 12 noon Thursday at Garner United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Garner. He is survived by 2 sons, Barry (Pam) and Greg (Kim); 3 grandsons, Hunter (Sydnee), Justin (Ashley), Brandon and;great-granddaughter, Eva Joy. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Juanita Byars; brothers Roy, Lex, JP, Bobby and sister, Ruth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Garner United Methodist Church, 201 Methodist Dr., Garner, NC 27529 or Transitions Hospice, 250 Hospice Cir., Raleigh, NC 27607.
