Vicki Lynn Paullin of 5201 Crooked Bluff Ln., Fuquay Varina, NC passed away on Thursday, January 27that the age of 76. She is survived by her only son, Devin Paullin, her daughter in-law, Beth Paullin, and her two grandsons, Connor Paullin and Chase Paullin. Vicki, born in Valley Center, Kansas on June 9th, 1945. She is the daughter Ralph “Barney” Bachelder and Claudine Talcott Bachelder. Claudine and Barney were well known and loved within the small town. They ran the town shoe store on main street, right next to the town drug store and soda shop. Vicki attended Valley Center High School and later graduated college at Emporia State Teacher’s college in Kansas. It was there that she fell in love with Don Paulliin, also from Valley Center, Kansas. Vicki and Don married in November of 1966 and they remained married for 40 years. After Don returned from serving with the Army in Vietnam, they welcomed their only son, Devin, into the world on in October of 1971. After graduating, she began her career as elementary school teacher in Valley Center. By 1978, she had become a full-time mom. The Paulin family moved to Chicago suburbs in 1978, to Livonia, Michigan in 1979, and then back to Libertyville, Illinois in 1980. She remained in Grayslake, Illinois up until September of 2021. During that time in Illinois, Vicki re-started her career and entered the corporate world, coordinating operations for two medical marketing companies until retiring in 2016. What Vicki enjoyed most was being near her family. She enjoyed reading, gardening, loved music and dancing, and was a very good cook. When she was younger, she even was able to impress others with her skills as a piano player. As she had done with her son Devin, she loved watching both of her of grandsons play various sports. She was always at the baseball field when she could come to North Carolina. Vicki spent her last days at Oak Hill Assisted Living facility in Angier North Carolina. She was loved by the staff and residents in the brief time she was there, and she loved them back. The Paullin family is forever grateful for the friends she made and the care she received in her final days. A service of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh.
