It is with heavy hearts that the Hales family announces the passing of their matriarch, Vivian Champion Hales, on December 16th, 2012. Vivian was born on February, 9, 1929 to the late Bleaker M. and Hubert M. Champion, Sr. of Raleigh. She graduated from Hugh Morson High School and was retired from First Citizens Bank.Vivian was a long-time member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raleigh. She was dedicated to God, and loved her family more than her heart could contain. She was predeceased by her father, Hubert Champion, Sr.; her mother, Bleaker Champion; and brother, Hubert Champion, Jr.Vivian was the first to arrange the flowers, create a handmade card, make the sweet tea and plan the celebration, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We often heard her say jokingly if Mama isnt happy, then no one is happy! We will make ourselves joyful, because we know that Mama is now eternally happy. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband of 65 years, Harry B. Billy Hales; sons Jim Hales (Janet) and Ray Hales (Trudy); daughter Ginger H. Duncan (Darryl); grandchildren Wendy H. Raynor (David), Jimmy Hales, Jr., Lisa H. Brogdon (Steve), Rachel Duncan, and Harrison Duncan; great-grandchildren Alyssa Raynor, Austin Raynor, Corbin Brogdon, and Piper Hales. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19th at Fellowship Baptist Church at 5029 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following.Burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park.
