W. E. Butch Bradley

January 20, 1924 - May 24, 2012 Willie Everette 'Butch' Bradley, loved and known by many as 'Butch', was the first-born son of Leo Rex and Sallie E. Bradley. He was born January 20, 1924. Having terrorized the back roads of Chalybeate as a child with his side-kick and brother, Carl Bell, he went on to join the Navy in 1941. A real war hero, he survived the bombing of the U.S.S. Wasp, having to tread water for many hours before being rescued. He folowed his fathers footsteps, working for many years at Bradley Service, along with his father, brother, son, and nephew and several long trm employees. He was known and loved by many all over the community, and many still today speak fondly of knowing 'Butch' at Bradley Service. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Raleigh Memorial Park. Butch has been married to his beloved wife, Mary, for 50 years. He is survived by three sons, Leo, Kenneth, and Richard; a sister in law, Shirley Bradley (wife of Carl Bell); many grandchildren, cousins, nephews, and nieces. His stepson John Hinsley preceded him in death. Many of his golfing buddies enjoyed his company as he engaged in his passion for playing. It was a form of recreation he loved and spent many days enjoying it at the RGA and various other golf courses. Willie was a kind hearted, gentle soul and he loved his wife and family. In his later years, he made a profession of faith to the Lord Jesus Christ. For those of us that have made that same profession, we look forward to seeing him once again.
