GARNER – Wallace Bynum “W.B.” Knight, Jr., 94, died Thursday. Born in Hoke County, he was the son of the late Wallace Bynum Knight, Sr. and Mildred Harris Knight. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in WWII. Mr. Knight was a charter member of the Garner Volunteer Fire Department where he served as a volunteer fireman and he was the longest standing member of Garner United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Garner United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jessie Stutts Knight; daughter, Martha Knight Baker and husband, Joe of Charlotte and Carole Knight LeMay and husband Tom of Raleigh; grandchildren, Mack Baker (Gena) of Summerfield, Carey Baker of Charlotte, Patrick Collins (Shelby) of Charlotte, Anna Isgrigg (Jeremy) of Kittrell and Christen Podhany of Raleigh; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Kimbrell of Monroe, Gwen Geanes of Laurinburg; brother, Bobby Knight of Wilmington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Knight Lybrand and sister, Bettye Tuten. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
