Walter Allen Evans

GARNER– Walter Allen Evans, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 15, 2023. A native of Johnston County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late E.V. Evans and Maxine Evans. Walter was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.

Walter honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972. After his service to his country, Walter heavily involved himself in his community. He devoted much of his time with the Garner Optimist Club, Garner Masonic Lodge, and First Baptist of Garner.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda M. Evans; son, Kevin Evans (Casey); brother, Bobby Evans (Jeanne); grandchildren, Abby Evans, Thomas Pope, and Gracie Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 18, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Garner, 601 St Mary’s St, Garner, NC 27529. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Selma Memorial Gardens, 1350 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576. The family will receive friends for a period of visitation from 10:00 am -10:45 am, on Friday, August 18, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Garner.
