Walter Ray Stapleton

FUQUAY VARINA – Walter Ray Stapleton, 89, died on Friday. Walter was the son of the late William Sampson Stapleton and Otella Stapleton. He served his country in the United States Air Force. A Celebration of Walters life will be held Tuesday, November 19 at 12 noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 10005 Lake Wheeler Rd., Fuquay-Varina, NC, 27526, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends 11 AM -12 PM prior to the service. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Carl and Charles Stapleton. Walter is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Stapleton; sons, Danny Stapleton (Marie), Paul Stapleton, Bill Stapleton and special daughter Kathy Meadows (Bud); grandchildren, Emily, Will, Thomas, Jill, and Madi Stapleton, Rachel Lynn (Wes), Lindsey Coley (Brian), and Justin Croom; sisters Edna Lambert and Lucille Curran (Richard); twin brother Wayne Stapleton (Helen), Bill Stapleton, and George Stapleton (Faye); sisters-in-law, Lou Jean, and Pam Peace and many nieces and nephews. Walter’s faith in his Lord was the center of his life. His actions reflected this in all he did. He loved planning family gatherings, going on mission trips with fellow church members, Bible teaching, leading marriage mentoring programs, and helping anyone in need.
