Wayne L. Peed

ANGIER – Wayne L. Peed, 85, passed away at Rex Hospital on Monday. Born in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Arvie Lee Peed and Ola Tutor Peed.

Wayne was a faithful member of Angier Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School since 1990. He was a devoted teacher for 30 years. He taught in Jacksonville in the early 1960's and taught in Smithfield in the late 1960's. Wayne spent his longest time teaching from 1980-1998 in Sanford at Lee Sr. High School as a marketing teacher and school to work coordinator before his retirement. In addition to teaching, Wayne worked at O'Dell Motor Company and from 1977-1979 he ran his families convenient store. He was a faithful member of the Kiwanis Club of Angier for more than 57 years. Wayne adored his grandchildren and spending time with them whenever he could. Wayne is someone that left an indelible mark on those who knew him and will always be remembered for his kind heart and gentle spirit.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8th at 3:00 pm at Angier Baptist Church, Angier. Inurnment will follow the service at Sandy Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:45 pm at the church.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Gale B. Peed; daughters, Winona Peed of Angier, Sandee Zechman of Angier; stepdaughter, Sharon Etris (Lee) of Yosemite, KY; stepson, Ronnie Timm (Melissa)of Bracey, VA; sister, Sandra Young (Durwood) of Benson; niece, Amy Agnor (Matthew) of Benson; grandchildren, Natalie, Sophia, Jacob, Emma, Dalton, Dylan, Chris, Ray, Dariene, and Holly; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ron Peed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, P.O. 697, Willow Spring, NC 27592 in Wayne’s memory.
