Wayne Marshall Wortham

March 22, 1941 — September 7, 2016

FUQUAY-VARINA – Wayne Marshall Wortham, 75, passed away on Wednesday. A native of Wake County; he was the son of the late Frank “Buddy” Wortham and Janie Yeargan Wortham. Wayne was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Willow Spring for over 50 years and he was also a retired Raleigh firefighter. Wayne is also a past chief with the Fuquay-Varina Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church, Willow Spring. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Spivey Wortham; daughter, Lavette Pope and husband, Mike of Fuquay-Varina; son, Alan Wayne Wortham and wife Michelle of Angier; brother, Larry Emerson Wortham and wife, Joan of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Bruce Wayne and Ariel Wortham, Brian and April Pope, Austin and Tori Matthews; great-grandchildren, River Wayne Pope, Adelyn Grace Matthews. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 1701 Bud Lipscomb Rd. Willow Spring, NC 27592 in Wayne’s memory.
