ANGIER - Wesley Max Denning, Jr., 69, passed away Wednesday at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Harnett County, he is the son of the late Wesley Max Denning, Sr. and Betty Stephenson Denning. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deborah Matthews Denning; son, Matthew Denning (Lisa) of Angier; sister, Amanda Marshall (Lee) of Angier; brother, Gary W. Denning and friend Julie L. Vaughan of Harkers Island; grandchildren, Caleb Denning and Emily Denning. Wesley played the organ at his church for over 30 years and he loved using his talents for the glory of God. He loved fishing, woodworking, reading, and cooking for others. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and he never met a stranger. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Wesley will be available for viewing and you may sign the register book on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier. The family will not be present during this time. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Turner. Face masks and social distancing are required at all services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministry Fund at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church, 4200 Neill’s Creek Road, Angier, North Carolina 27501 in Wesley’s memory. The family thanks the staff of Transitions Life Care, especially Tonya and Rhonda, whose compassionate care and devotion to their profession helped Wesley and his family immeasurably during his final days.
