Wilbert Wright “Gabe” Adams

GARNER– Wilbert Wright “Gabe” Adams, died peacefully at home at age 88, Monday. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Garner, 503 Lakeside Dr. Garner, NC. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at the church. “Gabe” was born in Georgia on October 12, 1929 to Joseph and Sallie Carol Adams. He was the youngest boy in a family of 7 girls and 6 boys. He graduated from Angier High School and attended NC State University for a short while. He went to work with Carolina Power and Light Company in Raleigh and retired after thirty plus years. After his retirement from CP&L, he worked in the security department at Meredith College for several years. He was married to Mildred Walker Adams in 1954 and they had two sons, Chris and Craig Adams. In addition to his parents and 12 brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred and his son, Craig. Gabe is survived by his second wife, Jeanne Dupree Johnson, son, Chris Adams of Raleigh; granddaughter, Amanda Adams of Wilmington and a half-brother, Joe Adams of Angier. He is also survived by two step daughters, Lynda Johnson Gregory of Hickory, Nancy Johnson Packard of Garner; five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
