TOPSAIL BEACH - Wiley Barnes Bryan, 90, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Wiley Barnes Bryan (Barney) was born May 3, 1929 in Raleigh, NC to the late William Jennings Bryan and Nancy Ellen Noblin Bryan. He was married to his wife, Leona Marshburn Bryan for 65 wonderful years. Wiley graduated from Hugh Morrison High School in Raleigh. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served until 1953. He retired from Carolina Power and Light after 34 years. He made a decision as a teenager to follow Christ and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church. It was at this church that He and Leona were married on April 30, 1954. He and Lee later were charter members of Aversboro Road Baptist Church but since moved to Topsail Beach where he was an associate member of Emma Anderson Chapel. He faithfully served in the church for many years after moving to Topsail in 1991. Throughout his years, he served in various leadership positions in the Breakfast Optimist Club of Raleigh, the Lions Club of Garner and the Kiwanis Club in Topsail Beach. He committed his life to be a humble servant for Christ, which included leaving the Air Force early to take care of his Mom and Dad, later caring for his Grandmother and two Aunts. Wiley was always involved in serving others and his community. He was a devoted husband to Lee Bryan and a loving father to his son, Bill Bryan (Wendy) and daughters, Cindy Fadoil (Jerry) and Anne Bryan (Jackie). He was a `devoted Pa to five grandchildren: Scott Porter, Kristen Hansen, Patrick Bryan (Julie), Christopher Bryan (Marissa), Candice Whitley (Eric), nine great-grandchildren: Catelynn Porter, Taylor Hansen, Alex Hansen, Ellie Bryan, Tristan Bryan, Piper Bryan, Anna Whitley, Charlotte Bryan, and Jude Whitley. A sister-in-law, Peggy Bryan; nephews, Stewart Bryan and Neal Bryan and niece, Molly Bigelow, also survive him along with a large extended family. His brother, Charles Bryan, preceded Wiley in death. Wiley will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
