William Addison Jones

November 23, 1950 — January 22, 2025

Garner - William Addison "Bill" Jones, 74, formerly of Cross Lanes, WV, passed away on Wednesday. Bill was born in Charleston, West Virginia to the late William Ernest and Wilda Hearl Jones.

In 1970, Bill entered the US Army, knowing he was about to be drafted, hoping to choose his desired location. The Army chose for him and he was stationed at Long Binh Post, Vietnam, HHC/SSC/TMPA where he met the love of his life while working as an Automotive Repair Parts Specialist. After, retrieving his young bride and infant son from Vietnam, Bill left the army in 1973. In 1976, he started working at Union Carbide in Institute, WV near his hometown of Dunbar, WV. Union Carbide changed ownership over the years and Bill eventually retired from Bayer Crop Science in Raleigh, NC after over 35 years of combined employment.

Bill was a true "tinkerer" and enjoyed fixing and figuring out how to fix things. He spent many hours in his shed working on wood projects. He was unique in his personality as he was good with numbers and enjoyed fine art, writing, and music. He had a great sense of humor and knew how to make people laugh. He and his wife, Mai, loved to travel and spend time in their backyard harvesting persimmons and landscaping.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 27th, at 2:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner. A visitation will take place one hour prior, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
