William Alvin Stephens, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Born in Wake County, he was preceded in death by his parents Katherine Kelly Stephens and Robert Alvin Stephens.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Stutts) Stephens and brother, Davy Stephens.
He is survived by his children, Tammy Bradshaw & (Brian); son Brian Stephens & (April); their mother, Cathy Stephens Miller; grandchildren, Christopher Fisher, Abigail Stephens, Autumn Bradshaw, Ava Bradshaw, Hunter Bradshaw and Holden Bradshaw; twin brother, Robert Stephens (Autry Lewis) and brother, Donnie Stephens; sisters, Patricia Dillard (Robert) and Linda Denton (Benny), and many aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved extended family.
William and Jean “Mama Jean” (Stutts) Stephens were married for 14 years and blended their families which included additional children, Becky Pendergraft (Nickey) and Kim Dean (Kent); and grandchildren Brent Dean, Lindsay Sessoms, Brandon Roberts, Jordan Nolan, Cody Roberts and Karsen Nolan; and many great grandchildren.
William Stephens was truly one of a kind. Known as an incredibly genuine & generous person. He spent most of his days helping others whether it be a neighbor, the McCullers Ruritan Club, or anyone with a need. He had a wonderful sense of humor & a kind spirit.
He was a true gentleman & a distinguished man of his word.
He lived well, loved better & served greatly.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday March 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 29, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of William Stephens to the McCullers Ruritan Club, ℅ Jay Dixon, 2400 Indore Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
