William Douglas "Doug" Gillis

William Douglas ‘Doug’ Gillis, 55, of Garner, passed away in his home on November 30, 2024. Doug was born to William M. Gillis and Betty W. Gillis on March 4, 1969, and he is survived by his mother, Betty W. Gillis; his sister, Michele G. Cash; his niece, Brandy E. Cash; his maternal uncle, Bill Williams; and his paternal aunt, Susan Matarazzo.

He was preceded in death by his father, William ‘Bill’ M. Gillis; his maternal grandparents, Pattie B. Williams and Douglas Williams; and his paternal grandparents, Emma C. Kepner and William T. Gillis.

Doug was a beloved friend to many, but most notably were Bruce Lokers, Chris Sykes, and Mike Rheuark, who were like family. He worked as a pawnbroker by trade, and his passion for collecting and gaming brought him great joy.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial visitation to honor Doug’s memory will be held by on Sunday, December 8th, between 2:00 and 4:00, at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner.
