GARNER- Willis Thompson, Sr., 71, passed away on Monday at Rex Hospital. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Milton and Iola Thompson. Willis worked as a truck driver for Winn-Dixie for 25 years and also worked for TT&E Iron and Metal for 10 years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Thompson; sons, Willis Thompson, Jr. (Debbie), Steven Thompson (Hope), Timmy Thompson (Christie) all of Garner; Richard Fannin who he considered another son; sister, Catherine Bagwell (Gerald) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Daniel Thompson, Tori Thompson and Jacob Thompson. In addition to his parents, Willis is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Pate; brother, Bobby Thompson.
