Yvonne Southerland Griffin

Raleigh - Yvonne Southerland Griffin, 79, died peacefully on Saturday at the William Dunlap Hospice Center surrounded by her family. In 1995, Yvonne retired from Bell South (Southern Bell) where she had worked for 38 years.  She was a very loving and devoted wife and sibling who enjoyed the time she spent with her family.  She was an active member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church where she shared her strong faith with others. Yvonne is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl Griffin; brothers, James B. Southerland and wife Jackie of Tarboro, and Danny Southerland and wife Frances of Nashville; sister, Jan Southerland Hoffman of Bristol, TN.  She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Monday.  Entombment will be private.
